Magnetic sensors may not detect a break-in if the thief simply smashes a window or a glass door. Our acoustic glass breakage detectors respond to the actual cracking of the glass the moment someone tries to break in. The alarm will sound while the thief is still outside – not after he is already walking around inside the home.

Glass break detectors fall into two general categoris – Acoustic and Shock sensors. Acoustic detectors protect all of the windows in a room or area. Shock detectors protect a single expanse of glass.

  • Acoustic Sensors – Acoustic glassbreak sensors are an important part of an effective perimeter detection system. It is very important to choose the right sensor for a particular application or environment. We offer you a variety of choices for virtually any glassbreak application.

  • Shock Sensors – Breaking glass produces specific shock frequencies that travel through glass and window frames. When shock sensors feel the wave generated by breaking glass, they signal an alarm. These sensors mount directly on the glass or the frame and give you a product virtually immune to false alarms. Shock sensors can operate on windows with heavy drapes or shutters and they help prevent break-in attempts by providing a visual deterrent to intruders.

The 5820A Series Recessed ShatterPro II is designed for use when sensor appearance is a consideration. The 5820A recessed model can be mounted directly into the wall or ceiling or can be used with the single gang box accessory. A trim ring is included.

Using patented Pattern Recognition Technology, the sensor listens for the actual pattern of breaking glass while eliminating most false alarm patterns. Recessed ShatterPro II sensors listen across the glass break frequency spectrum to differentiate the sound of breaking glass from most normal room sounds. A new test feature takes installation faster by eliminating the test mode jumper. The Recessed ShatterPro II is tested by activating the hand-held glassbreak tester at close range. Opening the sensor is unnecessary.

When aesthetic considerations are critical, choose the 5820A Series Recessed ShatterPro II. This recessed model can be mounted directly into the wall or ceiling, with a one-inch diameter hole. The 5820A Series offers the same full features as the surface mount ShatterPro II. (Trim ring included)
